The Crystal Sphere is both the common name for the whole area of the Dream as well as for the barrier that surrounds the Dream and blocks access to and from the [[Dark Beyond]]. Located 2.0 AU from [[Eua]], it is a spherical shell of some unknown, but immensely tough crystalline substance. Nothing material can pass through; the infectious thought forms of the [[Awakener]] can and do slip through, manifesting as red-purple hexagonal crystalline shards. These are tracked and destroyed by the [[angels]] as much as possible. Occasional fragments do reach [[Quartus]], however, and infect the local wildlife until detected and destroyed.
