			The [[Red Plague]] hit [[Godsfall]] fairly hard, at least the foreign-dominated merchant areas. While the overall death toll was limited, the ''political'' effects were...extreme. The Parliament spent the autumn deliberating (read "arguing bitterly") about the future of the Kotimaa region and its participation in larger affairs--many of the more involuted groups sympathized with the aims of the [[Circle of Purging Flame]] and blamed the presence of the [[Portal Network]] for the chaos.

			In the end, as of 15 Silence 253 AC, the Parliament of Free Peoples has officially disbanded and notified the Duarchs that Kotimaa and [[Godsfall]] have no interest in remaining part of a greater nation. Only the Dominion disagreed, but they were outvoted. Control of the city proper has split--each of the sectors is now controlled by the various resident groups. They have agreed to mutual non-interference, but nothing more.

			The results of this are still percolating through the Dreamshore government. The bigger effect there is the absolute havoc being wreaked in [[Rauviz]] (their neighbor), as well as the strongly divergent beliefs about what to do about the [[Ungoverned Lands]] and nature of the threat posed by the [[Holy Kaelthian Republic]]'s theocracy. Many observers, especially in [[Dashingwell]], predict that the already decentralized "monarchy" will simply dissolve, probably along the lines of the duchies. It's highly likely that the mountain duchies will, themselves, disintegrate as anything more than loose alliances of clans and tribes, pledged to mutual aid but with no other government. Each of the remaining dukes has publicly promised to consult the others before taking any drastic measures or engaging in anything that would breach the peace.
