A rugged landscape that slopes upward to the Mountains of Night, furrowed and forested, the Byssian Highlands are very unlike the well-settled, placid Byssian Lowlands. Here dwell the ihmisi tribes, some of which have had very few dealings with outsiders since the days of the western empire nearly 1000 years ago. Among these peaks and within these valleys, the kami still hold sway, as do the druids and elemental shamans who speak for them. Works of civilization are few and far between once you leave the borderlands; only the trail from Nykopis through the Dreamgrove and the Home of the Elements to the Tunnel of Ancestors is considered safe for outsiders. And even then, be wary of how you act.
