Eastmountain Duchy

Located in the Dreamwall Mountains north east of Baile Craan and stretching to the foothills of the Giant Spine Mountains, the Eastmountain region is known for its independent spirit and strong dislike for the formality and structure of its plains-dwelling neighbors. Populated by a mix of humans, ihmisi, orcs, dwarves, and others that have leaked through, including a fair number of giant-kin bands and even a small collection of "intelligent monsters" (including a chimera). Almost entirely self-sufficient, they joined the Duarchy of Kotimaa mostly as a way to preserve their independence. Unlike the other duchies, they elect their leadership in sprawling, fractious elections. And basically don't listen to them anyway.

Time of Troubles

With the dissolution of the Kingdom of Dreamshore, the settlements of the former duchy have rejected any formal association, preferring to act independently. They do have standing agreements to help their neighbors, as long as they stay out of "foreign entanglements". They still ship lumber and metal out and import other goods.

Rulers

Only one of note is "Duke" Katria of Cantebrook. She was chosen by lot (she lost) and has basically no actual authority in the Duchy. Each town mayor, family or clan head, etc. does what they want, as long as it doesn't cause problems outside the Duchy. If it does, all the rest stomp on the offender. They're only united against outsiders.
