The barren stretch of ground north of Southmount and the Blood-thirst Wildlands, east of the Nocthian Caldera, south of the Villi Hills, and west of the Windwalker Confederacy proper. Gained its name from the intersection of Byssia, Windwalker Confederacy, and Wyrmhold territorial claims, even though none of those nations really claim it in any force. Inhabited by three primary tribal groups of goblins--the Stonefire, the Red Hawk, and recently, the Stranglevine to the south (migrating away from the wildlands for reasons unknown).
The only significant settlement is the Trinity Trading Post where the Byssian Road splits into the Goblin Path (to Fort Hope) and the Dragon Path (heading north along the edge of the mountains to Byarmarsh). A tiny village, it's mostly just a fortified trading post and resting place for caravans, especially those waiting for the periodic escorted caravans across goblin territory.
Northern Border Region: Time of Troubles
The gap between Byssia and Wyrmhold has grown during the Time of Troubles, and the goblins have expanded into this gap.
Population
The Wyrmhold and Crisial sides are a mix of humans (wall-builder and night's children) and goblins, with more humans and fewer goblins on the Crisial side. South of the border is entirely goblin.
Towns (ordered by size)
- Rebrenica (Wh). About 2k.
- Valford (Cr). About 1.5k
- Orchenii (Cr). About 800
- Xatyn (Wh), pronounced Zhaten. About 700
- Romara (Wh). About 700
- Ryapol (Wh). About 600
- Krasan (Cr). About 500.
- Deysk (Wh). About 400.
- Aleysk (Wh). About 250
- Katyn (Cr). About 200.
The road forts along the Dusk Dragon Road each house about 50 soldiers, who patrol the road and protect caravans. Solo travelers are discouraged, as the Iron Thumbnail raid the road regularly.
Economy
Rebrenica is a combination military and trade town. The others mostly keep sheep, although Ryapol and Krasan have mines (copper and iron respectively). Valford is Crisial, and acts as a trade gateway to the north.
Threats
The Iron Thumbnail tribe has been growing and putting increasing pressure on the Dusk Dragon Road's forts. The Snaggle Tail are more peaceful, but also more standoffish and have become increasingly distrustful of outsiders.
Monsters are not uncommon, especially on the Crisial side near Katyn.
