Rakel Farthingale
An elderly halfling woman (born 30 Summer Dawning, 195 AC), Rakel is the reigning Duke of the Farthingale Duchy as well as yarl of Bradavon.
Politics
An arch traditionalist and extremely devout in the Church of the Seasons (Dreamshore branch), Rakel strongly believes that everyone should follow the will of the gods. She maintains a small coterie of priests as her most influential advisors. She is also strongly expansionist, although she focuses mostly on increasing the population of her duchy. She is distrustful of outsiders, arcane magic, and "innovation". Adventurers and adventuring are highly disfavored. She strongly favors women, both politically and personally. While she has children, she currently does not have a husband.

Children
She has only one matriarch daughter, Sarah Bradavon Farthingale and no sons. She adopted Nyx Astra into the Bradavon Farthingales, but has had to disavow her after she fled in the wake of the destruction of the Cherry Blossom Temple. While she gave birth to several kliba, they are not counted as her daughters, by longstanding halfling custom. She has no living sons.
Heir
At the current time, her heir is her daughter Sarah Bradavon Farthingale, although Rakel does not particularly like Sarah, nor does she trust her to carry on her legacy. She's looking for a new "foster daughter" to carry on her name, if not her line.
Personality and appearance
Rakel is elderly and somewhat infirm, walking with a cane. She always wears a visible holy symbol of the Four around her neck. Wears high-necked wool gowns, usually in fairly drab colors. Does not wear notable jewelry. Her personality is acerbic and she peppers her conversation with invocations of the Four, especially Melara and Loran Hae and only very rarely Sakara, who she thinks is a bit silly.
