Aerlan Godspeaker
Only member of the First Heroes who survived the War of Blood. Instrumental in banishing the Red Fang to the Abyss.
Early life
A human male, Aerlan grew up among the gwerin population living east of what is now the Great Eastern Dustlands. He was trained as an arcanist, but wasn't a very good wizard. His focus was always on people, rather than books. At age 21, he entered into a contract with a member of the First Host (ie one of the angels). When the War of Blood erupted, his kin and nation were among the first to be drowned in the rising tide of gore. He devoted the rest of his life to its destruction.
First Heroes and the end of the War of Blood
He joined the First Heroes as one of the founding members, and his patron was instrumental in showing the way to the Eternal Library. Once his fellow heroes ascended in the wake of the Third Wish, he became one of the first clerics of the new gods. With that power, he and the other surviving members infiltrated [[Red Fang|Grumach]'s citadel, Wolf Crest, and killed Grumach's sister. Gromach's counterstroke killed the remainder of the heroes, but Aerlan, serving as the focus for all of the gods, banished the fiend to the [[Abyss].
Founding of Divina Lux
Aerlan became a charismatic preacher, calling all the continent to the worship of the newly born gods. He founded Divina Lux as a home for study and practice of faith and worship for all that call themselves gods. This city later became known as Godsfall.
Personality
Aerlan was a serious youth and later man. Fiery passion and a strong sense of "what must be done" ruled his life. Austere, he never dabbled much in the pleasures of life, and never had any children. The faith of mankind was his child. In his later life, he held a deep anger against the "evil forces of the world", including in that number orcs, goblins, and the failed giantkin. These he showed no mercy and preached that they were cursed for the sins of the War of Blood. Much of the long-standing hatred of these races among the "civilized" nations traces back to him and his disciples.
