Pronounciation:[HAF-gan ahp kel-TAN]

Other titles: Phoenix Emperor, Immortal Emperor, Mageborn god-king.

Ostensibly the most powerful mage to have ever lived. Born 25 years before Moon's Fall to the Pwyll family (a minor collateral branch of the Aelvar imperial family) of Aelvar. After the fall of the moon and the splitting of Soefra from Noefra via the Eyes of Qa'desh, he and his father, Pyderi fab Pwyll, united the scattered, shattered remnants of the empire into the Kel'tan Empire, named after the mythological entity known as the Phoenix. Once his father passed away (under mysterious circumstances), Hafgan took the Sunfire throne and has ruled ever since.

Sustained by Magic

Until the Cataclysm, Hafgan was sustained by expensive and complex rejuvenation spells (the source of which is unknown). He appeared frequently in public, had many wives and concubines, sired many children. Toward the end of the Third Age, those magics were notably becoming unstable--treatments lasted less and less time before having to be renewed and new treatments were explored. He became less and less frequently in the public eye, and his decrees became more detached (and some would say insane).

The Cataclysm broke that. No more would the immortality spells work at all. Other means were investigated, the details of which are unknown. But it is known that the price is incredibly high...and that the treatments are no longer effective. The Immortal Phoenix Emperor, one of the oldest living beings on Quartus, is sliding toward death.
