Toryuu City

The capital and only city on Toryuu Island, a large island between the northern and southern Oelfra. It exists at the sufferance of the Eldest, an ancient gold dragon who lairs in the super-volcano that looms over the city. By treaty, it is neutral ground for the often warring nations of the continent.

Population Demographics

Roughly 50k, mixed jazuu and dwarves, although many mixed dragon-touched individuals also reside there.

Legend: The deep red area in the north-east is the domain of the Ten Houses (with locations marked) on the slopes of the volcano, although 3 of the houses have their primary residences elsewhere. The orange sector is merchant-class, catering to the trade between the mainland nations (as hostile relations prevent that trade from happening elsewhere). Light green is the lower-class district, where the working families live, along with the slums for the down-and-out. The dark-green is the docks area. Non-dragon habitation outside the outer bounds of the city is very limited--non-dragons are not allowed more than 1 day from the outermost street except with explicit permission of the draconic ruler...who rarely gives it. Most of the food is imported.

Politics

The city is ruled over by the Ten Houses, jazuu families with long histories. Several of them contribute servants to the undertaking that is the Eldest's lair. The lower class are almost all dwarven, considered workers at best and scum at worst. The city has no wall or other significant defenses--anyone stupid enough to attack it would be crushed by all the nations of Oelfra.
