Dragonbotherers

About 35 years ago, a party of western adventurers came through the portal. They quickly got into trouble by disrespecting local customs (they treated the innkeeper's daughter as a prostitute due to her dress) and were kicked out. They returned after raiding the nest of the blue dragon Ki-larn from the Shaera flight-of-flights and stealing one of her eggs. When Ki-larn came after them in anger, they tricked parts of the town into believing that she was the aggressor. This caused significant destruction and poisoned relationships with Shaera significantly. They were executed and their dismembered bodies thrown back through the portal.

Their bad actions have left a large portion of the older population very wary of westerners and especially adventurers. Lord Wool was involved in the cleanup, and his family has had to pay significant and ongoing tribute to get the trade route through Shaera functioning. Ki-larn still holds a major grudge against adventurers.
