Winter War

The common name for the 90-year war between Wyrmhold and the Hungering Frost that drove the dragonborn out of Old Wyrmhold and mostly out of the Nocthian Caldera. Starting in 115 AC, it ended in 205 AC with the construction of the Frostbound Wall and then a few years later with the fall of Isskap at the hands of the Wild Cards. For all but the last year or so, the fighting was carried out entirely by the forces of Wyrmhold, occupying nearly the entire adult population of the nation during winter time. Only the defensive nature and the fact that it was mostly during the fallow winter time spared the people. At the final set of battles, forces from across the Federated Nations region participated, including companies of rangers, large masses of dragonborn from the Council Lands, dwarven engineers, and even Byssian elementalists.
