Lamies the Silent
Elemental lord of the Plane of Cloud.
Basic information
Lamies [LAH-mees] was a ranking elemental prince of Air pre-Planar realignment who rose to leadership in the Plane of Cloud in the aftermath of the Cataclysm. He rose to power based on his subtle manipulations of those around him.
Lamies is most associated with dreams; other titles he is known by include
- Dream-lord
- Nightmare walker
- Lord of the Forgotten
His most common title "the Silent" comes from the fact that no one has (on record) heard him speak. Interactions with him happen by an odd empathic semi-telepathy. Mostly, people in his orbit tend to "just know" what he wants. Occasionally, he shows up in people's dreams and "speaks" there...although no one remembers what his voice sounds like.
Physically, he appears like a vaguely elven (although not any particular subtype) male of indeterminate age with blond hair and green hair.
Expert information
According to Dreams of the Cloud: Lamies Nightmare-walker, found in the Recursive Library, Lamies is actually a telepathic, winged aelf originally from Perdatos. This means his true form is a tall (~7'), slightly hunched, leather-winged, pointed-ear, sallow skin, pointed-tooth "elf". His talent is walking through dreams--anyone who sleeps and dreams can have their visions invaded and manipulated by Lamies.
He feeds, as it was, on the dreams and memories that mortals desire to forget. Unlike the Plane of Ice, which holds on to grudges and memories, Lamies desires that people discard their unwanted memories. Seeking peace by releasing all that troubles you.
