One of the very oldest fey known to exist, The Morrigan (her name/title always includes the article) has been called Queen of the Winter Court, but she would dispute that--there are many Winter Courts and many Queens. Her existence has been continuously attested since the Interregnum, and her nature has not changed significantly since those earliest records.

Appearance

The Morrigan appears to be a supremely beautiful, alabaster-skinned, ebony-haired woman of indeterminate age...unless you look at her eyes, which have seen millennia. Her "true form" as seen via truesight is...beautiful and horrible beyond words. Looking on her that way is not advised. She normally wears stark, simple, nearly-sheer robes of black and silver moonthistle silk and what appears to be an elaborate, black-feathered cape that conceals most of her form. A closer inspection shows that the cape is really made of countless ravens born of Shadow itself, spreading their wings over her.

Her presence is such that most mortals find it difficult to look at her or speak except falteringly.

Personality

As an archfey, she is nearly human in personality, but that nearly only makes her more alien. She rarely shows emotion except for a faint amusement, but that calm demeanor does not mean she won't sentence someone to death...or worse on a whim. Her obsession is memory and valor--she is the patron of valiant warriors, whether villain or hero. And she holds close the memories of their grudges and wars. It's said that she was a patron of the Cysgoroesi--if that is correct, the bond has long-since been severed.

She is known to be approachable by mortals, finding their boldness and desperation to be amusing. She deals fairly, although like all fey, her deals frequently have more layers than expected. She hates to be in someone else's debt.

Home

The Morrigan holds court at the Palace of Shimmering Waters in the Dreamlands, co-located with the eastern Northern Frostlands in the Mortal Plane.
