Kaela River
The largest river of the Sea of Grass and Dreamshore, this major river runs from the mountains surrounding Kaelthia around the edge of the Sundown Range and down into Lake Coy'in at Rauviz City. Navigable almost all its length (at least until the locks near Lowbridge were destroyed during the Winter War of 252 AC), it still carries much traffic along its northern stretch.
Width: Ranges from ~200 feet (in Kaelthia itself) to nearly 2 miles near Rauviz.
Depth: Varies
- Near the mouth, it is 80-100 ft deep
- By Lowbridge it is only about 50 ft deep.
- By Highbridge it has shallowed to about 20 ft.
Surrounding terrain:
Its upper reaches (north of Lowbridge) are carved through limestone gorges, with cliffs ranging from 10 to 100 ft in places. Its lower reaches are rolling hills. It was dredged heavily along the middle/lower reaches for nearly 100 years, but that effort has stopped in the last few years.
