New Year's War

A short, decisive operation by forces of the Holy Kaelthian Republic in the very last days of 251 AC and the start of 252 AC. During this 3-day conflict, pre-positioned forces wiped out the primitive tribes living in the mountain pass west of the city and seized control of about 50 miles of Sha'slari territory, creating a 60-mile buffer zone. At the end of the conflict, all Kaelthian military and governmental forces withdrew into this buffer zone and barricaded it against all outsiders, refusing trade (other than minimal amounts) or visitors.

There were no major battles, just a series of extermination raids and a general fait accompli.

This action caused the formation of the Ungoverned Lands, as well as sparked a chain of events whose consequences are not quite yet clear, but have so-far proven to be disastrous for the peace of the Federated Nations.
