Of the three Abandoned cities, Nazorat ("City of Domination") is the smallest but also the most well-developed.

Demonym

Residents of Nazorat are the Nazori (singular Nazoreen).

Geography

Located in a set of broad, fertile valleys near Zhapai Karmap, Nazorat is self-sufficient for foodstuffs. As with all of the Abandoned cities, most of the development is underground in tunnels and caverns.

Population

Nazorat is home to about 8k dwarves. Of all the dwarves, they are the most physically distinct--they are generally bald with grey beards (regardless of age) and piercing amethyst eyes. They tend to favor heavy piercings and chains.

No non-dwarves have permanent residence here, although there are many temporary workers (some say slaves...) that farm the valleys.

Culture

Nazorat is extremely insular as far as the city itself goes. Outsiders (dwarf or not) are kept in specially-designated areas on the surface. As such, little is known about their culture. What has been observed is that the Nazori are quiet and reserved, rarely showing any emotion. This does not mean they do not have emotions...nothing could be further from the truth. They simmer with repressed hatred and dislike for many others.

Power in Nazorat comes by strength, but not strength of body. Strength of mind. Ability to undergo torture and not crack. Ability to manipulate and blackmail.

The Nazori are known to hire out small mercenary infiltrator bands (3-5); these bands do their jobs and then return. They use strange mental powers unknown to most others to do this, including the ability to become invisible to most people for short periods of time without using traditional spells.

Leadership

The current Boss Nazorat is suspected to be a figurehead, chosen to be palatable to the outside.
