Sheered from wiresheep and processed carefully, wirewool is an extremely durable, metallic-seeming fiber. Not suitable for most clothing other than protective gear, it is roughly as strong as mild steel but much lighter and can be woven. The premier export of the Great Eastern Dustlands.

Game Statistics

Availability: Common in Shaadval, uncommon throughout eastern Noefra, vanishingly rare elsewhere.

Pricing: A bolt of wirewool (enough to make a garment) costs 10 gp in Shaadval or 50 gp in Shaanti or Jinse. Difficulty working it (requiring special tools and techniques) means that finished garments cost an additional 10 gp in most areas.

Effect: Wearing a full set of clothing made from wirewool provides armor equivalent to leather armor (11 + Dex) but does not require light armor proficiency. It does not count as wearing armor for the purpose of effects such as mage armor or Unarmored Defense, but does not stack with any other armor calculation. Narratively, it provides superior resistance to cuts and abrasions, while having inferior thermal insulation properties.
