Of the races created before the Dawn War to serve the Primordial Powers, the Leviathan (made to serve Darkness/Memory/Stability) is the only one left mostly intact. The titans and wyrm fell in their wars, the lightborn and proteans have significantly changed, but Leviathan remains. And remembers.

Leviathan is a single entity distributed over millions of bodies. Essentially every large (and many small) deep sea beast is part of this networked mind. Although cells come and go, the essence of Leviathan remains intact. Leviathan's primary purpose, it believes, is to remember everything. Everything that happens in the sea, everything that happens on land, everything. This it does by singing the information back and forth to itself.

Communication with Leviathan is difficult, as its mode of speech and even its thought patterns are alien. This alien character is in speed (Leviathan does nothing fast), outlook on sequence (Leviathan keeps all things as present, so historical sequencing is difficult), and outlook on individual mortality (Leviathan does not die, and scarcely understands what that even means). Those sages who have altered themselves into suitable hosts to join the Eternal Song have come back insane...if they've come back at all.
