Tunnel of the Ancestors

A tunnel through the Mountains of Night, linking the Byssian Highlands and the southern Nocthian Caldera. Originally constructed in ages past by the Nocthian civilization, then sealed until the exodus of the Nocthians from the Caldera in the years after the Cataclysm. Parts of it were intentionally collapsed (especially the caldera-side entrance) behind the final parties.

Re-excavated and reinforced starting in 212 AC, the tunnel now serves as the main Byssian entry point into the Caldera.

Dimensions

Winding nearly 100 miles through caverns natural and artificial and containing nearly 10,000 steps and mechanical elevators of ancient design, the Tunnel of the Ancestors is the largest such construct in Noefra. Constant patrols keep the creatures that infested it after it was abandoned at bay, although travel through the tunnel is still not entirely considered safe and parties making the trip are encouraged to bring significant protection.

Approximately half-way through is Moonlight, an underground city catering to travelers and explorers.
