Anara Badmergh-Shoryu

Anara is the "count" (although she dislikes formal titles) of Adair, the second-largest town in the Sundown Hills. She does not rule by strength, but by diplomacy, working endlessly to get the fractious dwarves of clan Badmergh as well as the independent, stubborn hill folk to cooperate. Mostly by being extremely stubborn and to-the-point.

In her late-middle-age (as of 260 AC), Anara is unusual for a dwarf in that she has re-married after the death of her husband. Even more unusually, she married a former gwerin noble, Eirwyn sur Golau who is much her junior (barely 60 to Anara's 100-ish years). Outsiders are often puzzled at the odd combination--the short (even for a dwarf), basically cylindrical count and the tall, classically-beautiful elf, one gruff and blunt to the point of being monosyllabic a lot of the time and the other from the most traditional of traditional high-society gwerin, capable of endless songs and tales. But somehow it works...

Politically, she has zero concerns for anything outside of her domain. "Let the world burn, unless it touches Adair or the clan," she's been known to say. But let something touch her domain, and she will fight until the Oblivion Gate consumes everything.
