Brinemaiden's Lament

From Dreams of Hope

(Based on '39 by Queen)

In the year 139, the Brinemaiden left the quay
In the days when crops had failed
The fair ship sailed out
Into the blue and sunny morn
The sweetest sight ever seen
Then they journeyed night and day
So the story tellers say
And the score brave souls aboard
For many a lonely day sailed across the astral seas
Ne'er looked back, full of hope, never cried

Don't you hear my call
Through the astral paths I stray
Don't you hear me calling you
Did the slavers bind your hand
Empty huts perched on the sand
In the land our grandkids never knew

In the year 239 came a ship into the quay
The Brinemaiden fair brimmed with news
Tidings they brought home of a fair and fertile shore
Though their hearts sank like stone, from the truth
Empty hearth, abandoned quay
All their kin were gone away
They’re Fuhino refugees
Oh, so many years have gone
I am older but a year
Your mother's eyes, from your eyes, cry to me

Don't you hear my call
Through the astral paths I stray
Don't you hear me calling you
Did the slavers bind your hand
Empty huts perched on the sand
In the land our grandkids never knew

Don't you hear my call
Through the astral paths I stray
Don't you hear me calling you
Hourglass reverse your sand
Let me sail time’s backward span
Where my love, in between, waits for me
{Strum to finish}
