Cleansing the Four Towers

From Dreams of Hope

The last adventure of the Catalysts on behalf of Yuuras Zaali, summer of 205 AC. Fishermen had started reporting ghostly towers appearing on an unknown island about an hour's sail north of the town, with an eerie magical barrier preventing access. A scholar and journeyman mage named Robert Spell-wright from the Granite-Flame Academy in Kaelthia had come to investigate and needed a bodyguard. The party agreed to help.

Events

  1. The barrier turned out to be a fairly simple one designed more to contain than to ward out. Robert bypassed it with some effort.
  2. Landing on the island, it turned out to be the top of a mountain that had sunk when Lake Coy'in had expanded at the Cataclysm. Four towers, one of them ruined and burnt, occupied the bulk of the island. Some investigation revealed them to be named the Towers of Sun, Earth, Moon, and Stars. See that document for more details.

Aftermath

The towers have become the central home of the Sages and the Guardians of the Forgotten Registered Company. They technically pay allegiance to Queen Raanee of the Crisial Kingdom, but mostly act independently and access requires approval from the Guardians.

Discoveries

This quest led to the discovery of the Portal Network, as well as the Dark Lady and gave hints about where she'd ended up. It also led to the discovery that humans were descended from goblins (and not the other way around), which led directly to the next quest when human-supremacists got involved.
