Fangs of Resolution

From Dreams of Hope

A collection of artifact daggers. Each one is about 16 inches long and curved (as if made from the fang or claw of a gigantic creature). They appear to be made of ivory or bone, but are impossible to destroy by ordinary means. They can be told apart by the symbols engraved in the butt--ancient runes for numbers. In total, 8 have been identified.

The Fangs, despite appearing to be daggers, are incapable of harming a creature or cutting anything, except in one specific case. If pressed into a surface, they pass through it as if incorporeal. They will sit in a sheath. No interaction with normal matter is possible--the Fangs appear to be completely harmless.

When an intelligent creature picks one up, however, they suddenly understand the singular use of these daggers. When driven into the wielder's own heart, with full intent, knowingly and willingly accepting the consequences, the Fang will absorb the wielder's life force, extinguishing their Spark and destroying their body completely. The wielder's last wish, if expressed with full conviction of soul, will then come to pass. The wielder can never be returned to existence--they do not pass on into Shadow and not even the most powerful magic can contact them. They no longer exist.

It is said that these were the inspiration for the first wizards to develop the spell wish, which pales in comparison to the potential of these daggers but does not carry nearly the same cost.
