Hound's Rest
Built pre-Cataclysm to be the residence of High Mage Doethian sur Paendrag, who owned and administered the lands where Kaelthia was founded, it was relegated to obscurity after the founding of the city. Doethian died about 100 years after the Cataclysm and the house stayed empty (nominally owned by various individuals but never inhabited) until the Catalysts received it as payment for their deeds in 205 AC. The reason for the long emptyness as well as the state of repair (which was abnormally good) turned out to be that the house was haunted--the High Mage had been experimenting with soul pinning, attempting to anchor willing souls into structures to serve as a guiding intelligence. His work was used by Katheryn Archmagus to pin her own soul into the Granite-Flame Academy, but he himself was only able to embed the awakened soul of his favorite pet into the house.
Currently, the house serves as the residence of Vassarian Kabir as well as an administrative center for Guildtown (the Adventurer's Guild outpost that has swallowed the small suburb outside Kaelthia).
