Maerik Mar'osh

Maerik Mar'osh is the founding king of the "kingdom" of Mar'osh. A 35 year old orc of a now nearly obliterated tribe native to the Fiach Wood, he had traveled extensively in his teens and twenties, studying history and business in Godsfall. Physically, he is an imposing figure, standing well over 6' tall and 350 lbs of muscle. He is an accomplished warrior--he wears the skin of a manticore he strangled to death after it broke his (previous) weapon. He uses this appearance as a blind, concealing his keen intellect and interest in the economic and social health of his nation.

Driving Motivation

Maerik is driven by a strong hatred for the inter-tribe warfare that dominated the life of the tribes of the Wood, the incessant raids and vendettas that destroyed his tribe. He also detests the meddling of (mainly Wyrmholder) outsiders that spurred on some of that violence. He is driven to unify as many of his people as possible so that they can stand independent against other nations and keep the peace.

His primary blind-spot is his sister (the only other survivor of his tribe), Diedre Mar'osh. He knows, intellectually, that she's engaged in some shady stuff. But he seems incapable (or at least highly resistant) to facing the truth of her actions, allowing her to shed the blame onto others.
