Mysterium magicii

Four orbs, each about large softball sized, metal, made of layers of wire. Around equator is a ring with many symbols, one serving as a direction arrow. When the direction arrow is brought to point in particular directions, one of the symbols starts to glow. Each of the three special directions corresponds to a different symbol, indicating the direction to another orb. When brought together and placed in a special framework, the four of them serve as the key to open the portal to the Vault of Kings.

In reality, they are massive arcane batteries, refilling over centuries from ambient magic. The Vault of Kings can be opened without them, given enough energy (requiring mass blood magic to accomplish).

Current Location

Drained of their power by opening the Vault of Kings for the Vault Seekers as well as 4 days of "firework shows" over Lake Coy'in, they have been split up and sent to various parts of the Crisial Kingdom and other locations around western Noefra. By intent, no single person knows where all four are located.
