To the Forbidden Land (Campaign)
From Dreams of Hope
A short, mostly narrative campaign involving two of the Airship Pioneers.
Events
- A meeting at a bar in Shadow
- A planar rift sends Fullthrop Bardsyn into Shadow, where he pops through the wall at the World's Edge Tavern and meets a mage named Soran. He purchases an odd statue from an insistent knicknack saleswoman and then is hired by Soran to help with his expedition, with the promised reward to become a "Living Gate".
- To Aenimos
- Together with Sorath vo'Gal, they are teleported to Aenimos, where Soran starts showing signs of mental instability. Their task is to triangulate the location of the "Well" where the ritual can take place; this they do by flying out on a flying carpet to appropriate locations in that empty land.
- Meeting the Earth Son
- The first location is on the back of Zhigor the Earth Son, cursed to wander the plains. They befriend a tribe of unusual creatures just coming into sentience that live on his back.
- The ritual at the Well
- After the next two triangulation points, they discover the location of the ritual Well. Fullthrop Bardsyn undergoes the ritual (mostly successfully, due to the presence of the statue which serves as a sort of key) and becomes the Living Gate, capable of teleporting himself and one other wherever across the planes he desires. Soran reveals his true intent, which was to set Echidra free.
- Judgement and aftermath
- Together with Soran, they travel to the Temple of Chains and are met by the guardian, a colossal ancient wyrm. He explains that all of this was at his instigation; a test to find ones willing and able to stand in judgement, when the ancients were unable. Their task--to hear the tale of Echidra and decide her and her children's fate. They hear the ancient tale of enslavement and betrayal and judge in their favor, extracting a promise that none will rampage across the lands of man. Behemoth is not set free, as it was unwilling and unable to make that promise. Soran stays behind to become Echidra's friend and confidant.
