Uulani Paragons
From Dreams of Hope
"Paragon" is the name that scholars give to the dwarven mythical and ancestral figures revered by many of the people of the Uulan Confederacy and surrounding clans. Veneration varies from full-on worship to considering their stories to be valuable lessons. The exact number of paragons also varies, but there are a few consistent members of this pseudo-pantheon. Each one is taken to symbolize a key virtue.
Paragons consistently numbered as such
- Khaidai Fuar -- One of the more historically-attested paragons, she led the newly-formed Fuar clan against an invasion of goblins during the early Third Age (about 2500 years ago). She symbolizes the virtue of Martial Prowess.
- Terbish Truthteller -- A mythic figure supposedly dating back to the Second Age (ca 8k years ago). Supposedly told the aelvar emperor the truth about one of his schemes (the details vary from telling to telling), knowing that it would get him and his entire clan wiped out. Symbolizes the values of Truth and Honesty.
- Maral Hammerlight -- Another mythic figure with no firm date. Supposedly the first dwarf to discover the art of making dwarven steel after spending 30 days working straight without sleep. Symbolizes the virtue of Industry.
- Bujeg Uulai -- Historically attested, the most recent Paragon. He gave up much of the uulani holdings to accommodate the refugees from the Cataclysm, leading to the present state. Symbolizes the virtue of Charity.
- Runeminder -- The oldest paragon figure, dating supposedly back to the end of the First Age. Preserved the art of writing in the runic script after the creation of the dwarven kind. Symbolizes the virtue of Knowledge.
