In truth, the blood ties between the modern Grey Eagle and the Ancestors are...tenuous at best. The modern Grey Eagle trace their connection to Kitos, the brother of Warleader. But Kitos was exiled from the tribe for basically being a wimp. And the ancestors weren't all peaceful or anything--far from it. That's a myth that the Grey Eagle have constructed (based on the teachings of Kitos). But the [[Ancestors]], now awoken from Rushing Water Cave (where they had been in stasis for 250 years), are tired and sick of bloodshed. The Ancestors aren't willing to walk, and don't have the supplies. They've settle down in the valley between [[Hope's End Pass]] and Black Bear passes, ranging into the surrounding mountains to the east (not the west). They will do one last service before settling down. On hearing that their "descendants" were maltreated by the Sin Eaters, they volunteered to help [[Morgan]] and sent most of the scouts with him to free his people from the [[Sin Eater]]s.

Traditions

The Grey Eagle claim to descend from a small group of pre-cataclysm orcs that decided to reject the warlike ways of their ancestors and seek harmony with nature. They were forced into service with the Army of Chaos as shamans and scouts and split into two groups. One, the shamanistic people and the noncombatants became the ancestors of the modern tribe, while the scouts and fighters disappeared from history while sweeping the Dreamwall for Order forces.

Ancestors

A blend of a dozen tribes, hammered together after being "recruited" by the Hellcaller into the Army of Chaos immediately before the Cataclysm. Their chant: "Bas do Deithe, Bas do Maistri" (Death to gods, death to masters). Tired of fighting others' wars, tired of getting jerked around by powers.

Notable People

Warleader
Real name lost, forsaken after being coopted by the Nameless. Torn between being sick of fighting and enjoying the rush of the Rage. A controlled lycanthrope (werebear).
Shaman Brigid
Wildfire druid. Serious temper (in the non-Rage sense) issue. Red haired.
Lugh the Unkillable
Oldest warrior (berserker). Said to be cursed with regeneration. Nice guy, if no fighting. Secretly (to outsiders) a werebear.
Waerlock Bres
Half-orc. Fiend pact with Kelak'ilArunasura. Most bitter against the gods. Angry. Born of rape, mother was then (when he was 10) convicted of witchcraft by the priest of Pelear and burned at the stake. He escaped and sought out a pact.
Scout-leader Kliodha
Female warrior/ranger. Quiet, cool-headed. Supports peace. Warleader's only daughter, the only other true Grey Eagle.
Smith Goibniu
Also quartermaster. Sick of fighting. Considered wise.

Groups

  • 30 scouts/skirmishers under Kliodha
  • 15 heavy infantry under Warleader, with Lugh as sergeant.
  • 15 support under Brigid

True History and Settling Down

In truth, the blood ties between the modern Grey Eagle and the Ancestors are...tenuous at best. The modern Grey Eagle trace their connection to Kitos, the brother of Warleader. But Kitos was exiled from the tribe for basically being a wimp. And the ancestors weren't all peaceful or anything--far from it. That's a myth that the Grey Eagle have constructed (based on the teachings of Kitos). But the Ancestors, now awoken from Rushing Water Cave (where they had been in stasis for 250 years), are tired and sick of bloodshed. The Ancestors aren't willing to walk, and don't have the supplies. They've settle down in the valley between Hope's End Pass and Black Bear passes, ranging into the surrounding mountains to the east (not the west). They will do one last service before settling down. On hearing that their "descendants" were maltreated by the Sin Eaters, they volunteered to help Morgan and sent most of the scouts with him to free his people from the Sin Eaters.

Warleader and Gobinu were present when Joseph Wildwood attacked Baron Sumpter's mansion and participated in the defense. For this service, the Ancestors were granted rights to the land between the passes, on condition that they protect caravans passing through, which they agreed to.
