Baron Sumpter

A Baron in the Duarchy of Kotimaa in 250 AC. Born Jared of Baile Craan, son of a merchant family there, he developed a mechanism (partially magical in nature) that allowed a much smoother ride for carriages and wagons. Leveraging the wealth this invention provided, he started the Fast Hands courier service with a few other notables. This service provides fast transport across the Sea of Grass, running 24 hours a day between waystops, carrying packages and passengers.

Currently a man in his early 30s, he married Lady Eliza of Montdenaxe, a younger woman of about 18, about two years ago. Their marriage is happy, although Jared is often more concerned with his books and accounts than his beautiful wife. Which causes tension in their marriage. So far they have no children (although not for lack of trying).

He bought the Barony of Sumpter, covering the Cragdale and Honedaxe region, from the previous Baron (who sold it to pay debts incurred by his son, Joseph Wildwood) in 249 AC and immediately began his ongoing attempt to turn Honedaxe into a commercial port. This was stymied until Enigma arrived and solved the multitude of issues during the Axe and Song campaign. They also coincidentally saved his life from Joseph Wildwood and the Red Hand adventuring team a few weeks later.
