The Yondri are a small, reclusive group of goroesi living on the northern edge of the western bulge of Moon's Fall Vengeance. While they have contacts with Zandak and with Oldhome, they generally do not interact with the other populations of the peninsula. They settled at the place they call Yondar about 3 generations ago (~190 AC)

Society

Egalitarian (unlike most goroesi). Very mystical and obscure. All adults have alternate names; kids dispose of their child-names once they become adult (Ilsa is a child-name). They live simple, agricultural lives, growing mostly vegetables and simple plants. They raise chickens and have a small spider-silk farm. The warriors hunt mage-beasts and other monstrosities that threaten the land. The shamans and wizards seek to repair the damage caused by Moon's Fall and the ongoing contamination by unchecked magic. This includes sealing or destroying elemental and shadow rifts, destroying demonic relics, and placating raging kami, driven mad by the tides of wild arcana.

The Shadow Prophecy

About 40 years ago, under Seer Sel'ith (2 seers before Ilsa), a series of prophetic visions started. They described 5 people who would "come out of many nations" and "face power bound yet unchecked." These visions predict a set of possible futures.

  1. One in which the group would "face the sleeper beneath the restless earth" and lay it to eternal rest. This leads to a healing of a large chunk of the land.
  2. One in which the group seals the sleeper away again, but does not destroy it. Effectively Status Quo minus the vampirates.
  3. One in which the group surrenders to the sleeper, fails in their task, or otherwise lets the sleeper awaken and break his chains. Bad things.
  4. One (optional) future where they "climb the steps of Trial" and gain power. Or fail (which can lead to 3).

People Described

  1. Dyurhal : "Shining like sun on steel" --> Glitterboy --> "Cheerbringer"
  2. Cysghul : "Watching [from/over] Shadow" --> Tall, Dark, and Handsome --> "Chatterbox"
  3. Di Ganwin : "Wrath of spring" --> Kneecaps' Bane --> "Little Giant"
  4. Dyal Tu'ul : "Dark Avenger" --> Flightless Wonder --> "Songbird"
  5. Caen I Mur : "Sea's Song" --> Lady Dancer --> "Straightface"

As of early summer 250, it is believed that these prophecies have been fulfilled by Enigma.
