Born: 180 AC.

The Tome-master is not the highest-ranking arcanist at the Granite-Flame Academy. He’s the one who lost the bidding war to avoid being stuck as the Academy’s mage representative on the Council. A divination expert, Korthan is also the representative for the Oracle Society. While he rarely gets involved in the more political matters directly, he is tireless behind the scenes. His focus is in expanding and maintaining the power of the Oracle Society and the Academy in the life of the Council Lands. His power-base and influence were strongly shaken by the advent of the Catalysts (an event completely unforeseen by the Society) and he’s been working hard ever since to regain control. He is especially influential among the richer human population, who depend on the Society to retain their power. There are rumors that he attained his position more through blackmail and blacker magic than by traditional arcane prowess, but no credible evidence has reached the Scale-balancers yet.
