A roughly 40-mile wide gap between The Dry to the east and the lower, more fertile Ikelan Colony Lands to the west. Bordered on the north by the mountains inhabited by Clan Sunud and to the south by the Carmine Mountains of the Red Lightning.

Geography

The Gap is a broad, sloping region of rolling open terrain with small, sparse stands of trees. It slopes about 800 vertical feet over its 14 mile run (east-west), for a fairly easy 1% grade, with the east being higher than the west (the Great Rift forming a sort of basin).

Politics

Officially, the Gap is not claimed by any nation--it forms the border between lands claimed (notionally) by Ikela to the east and Two Moons to the west, but neither nation considers those lands as anything more than aspirational claims; neither actually patrols or actively controls anything there. To the north, the Sunud dwarves dwell under the mountains and dislike intruders; to the south the Red Lightning flight owns the mountain area.

Trade

There is a small amount of travel through the region, with occasional (1x/year) caravans from Two Moons up to Fatehpur.
