Hvang Srey
Adopted daughter of Isal Sat'psa Balin, Isal Srey was the lowest-ranked member of the four serious contenders to Balin's throne as merely a khun. She ran a mercantile empire that reached all three districts and is starting to get involved with international trade. She, like Isal Sat'psa Dara, was disliked by most, mostly for her calculating and grasping ways. Ruling has softened that, as the people have seen significant growth under her reign. She only cares about making more coin, and will stoop to nothing (or so the rumors go) to get that coin. She uses and discards people when they're no longer useful. On the flip side, she's pleasant to be around and does not worry about caste boundaries. Of the four, she has the least religious devotion, although she attends services to the Queen Ascendant because that's expected of someone of her station.
She was married (now widowed), but her husband is a non-entity who kept busy with the family business (keeping the books) until he died in 246 AC of a minor infection. They have 4 children, a pair of identical twin girls and two boys. She is known to have a rotating stable of boy-toys, usually commoners who she uses for a few years and then sends off with a bit of gold. They're known for being very handsome, well-muscled, and brainless. She never trusts them with any of her business secrets. They're pure arm (and bed) candy.
Children
- Lai Roel Artist. Born early in their marriage, Lai Roel has no interest in ruling, money, or any such things. His interests revolve around creating "art" and finding new partners. He's extremely gay, of the bear sub-variety, and prefers younger effeminate men as partners. Known for providing illustrations for most of the most scandalous pornographic prints around.
- Isal Hvang Puo, the elder twin girl, is her heir. She inherited her mother's hardness and business sense. She's married to a distant Sat'psa relative and minor noble, but spends most of her time in the palace where she runs the internal intelligence network and her mother's international mercantile empire.
- Isal Captain Hvang Pal, the younger twin girl, inherited her grandfather's military bent. She commands the military forces of the Serpent Dominion and is known for her indiscriminate taste in companionship (of any gender and race other than the Sena'ka) and her dislike of the Ship Folk.
- Isal Sat'psa Fei, the youngest son, is the child of Srey's old age, born when his mother was 52. Son of one of her boy-toys, he inherited his father's good looks and apparent lack of brains. Not everyone's sure about that latter part, however. He's currently the Serpent Dominion's most eligible batchelor, but he already has several children by various lovers, including a much-older high-ranking Isal (which caused quite a bit of scandal, as he was only 14 when the pregnancy was noticed).
Demographic Information An elderly (74) human woman, Srey has a hard, unlovely face and no feminine softness. Her hair is silver and her skin is very pale. Tall for a woman, she stands nearly 6'.
Personality: I don't part with my money easily and will haggle tirelessly to get the best deal possible.
Ideal: Greed. I'm only in it for the money.
