The penultimate (canon) adventure of the Catalysts, taking place in early autumn of 205AC. Following up on the events of Into the Twisted Goblin Mine and Tree and Child, the party decided to head south into what is now known as the Blood-thirst Wildlands to see what is happening with the Twisted-led corruption. What they discovered changed the face of western Noefra and ended a great evil.

Events

  1. They traveled south from Yuuras Zaali and encountered peaceful goblin tribes who were fleeing north. The goblins of the goblin mine had been advance groups.
  2. They spent a day chilling with goblins and learned about ritual sites where the corruption was being spread. They also learned about an old pre-Cataclysm fort in the hills overlooking the corruption.
  3. They decided to move on the fort. There they discovered undead and demon cultists working under what they later learned was the Dark Lady, as well as a Portal Network entrance. After cleansing the fort, they gained goblin support to fortify it against the corruption.
  4. Knowing that assaulting the ritual sites directly was doomed to failure, they sought out new allies to the west (based on reports). They encountered and made allies with Byssia (who had been fighting off corruption on their borders) and Wyrmhold, although the latter was too busy dealing with the Hungering Frost to help much.
  5. With aid from the goblins (who later became the Windwalker Confederacy and founded Fort Hope on the site of the old fort), they assaulted the northernmost ritual point and took it, destroying the cultists there.
  6. The Byssian druids gave them an experimental ritual to call down a meteor on the center of the corruption--using the ritual site as a base, they began enacting that ritual against heavy opposition.
  7. As things became more dire, the Divine Three intervened in avatar form, claiming that they were bound to "finish what they'd started" and that the ritual would fail unless they helped. The avatars took over the ritual itself while the party fended off demon-twisted monsters and eventually an assault from an avatar of the Twisted himself.
  8. The ritual succeeded, but only revealed the corrupt heart. The party set forth, experiencing some really weird stuff (talking tree stumps with mohawks?).
  9. At the center point, which was the same temple the Eye of Qa'desh was discovered at (which sparked the Cataclysm), now ruined by the meteor ritual, they fought a corrupted green dragon (and Safrir nearly died because he thought he could talk to it) and then descended into a mkhulu nest, eventually destroying the Elder Brain that had ruled the ritual.
  10. Returning to Fort Hope, they found that the Dark Lady had been attempting to re-establish control via portal, but had been fended off. In the process, she'd revealed the portal coordinates of her home in Kel'al'ar. The party decided to do something about that.
