Apocalypse Archive

Buried several stories under the old Nocthian military HQ located in Nighthold in the Nocthian Caldera is the Apocalypse Archive, a dimensionally-incoherent space watched over by the Apocalypse Archivists, sentient machines. In the Archive are housed the artifacts recovered over the entire Third Age by the "recovery teams"...or at least those artifacts deemed too dangerous or inscrutable to be repurposed or studied elsewhere. It is not known how large this space is, but it certainly acts much like a (much larger) bag of holding--the actual cave is much smaller than the contents and navigating the space is not simple unless guided by an Archivist. It is believed that many thousands of artifacts, ranging from "seriously annoying" to "world-ending threat" are housed here. Some behave as if they are sentient themselves; others are simply incredibly attractive nuisances.

Examples

• A gold coin that, when flipped in context of a decision, always ensures success (at least locally) for the indicated action. At the cost of massive, crippling, frequently lethal bad luck for everyone else in a 1 mile radius for an unstable period of time.
• A simple cubical box. Inside the box is another identical box. Removing the inner box causes both boxes to open and release more boxes, which then release more boxes, etc. It stops at about 1 square mile of boxes 10' thick (in the center). After 24 hours, all the boxes except the original disappear.
• The original broom of cleaning, which only has a start mode, not a stop mode.
• Many others whose nature is unknown, except for "it was found at the center of a 10 mile radius of utter destruction."
