EsJay vo'Gal
EsJay was an older red dragonborn conjurer and artificer of some renown and utterly repellent morals. Killed by <campaign 4> in early spring of 252 AC at Scaeva Tower.
Early Life
EsJay was born to a collateral, but still noble family of the Gal clan near Lyodnoir in 192 AC. Trained as a mage, he specialized in conjury and the creation of automatons--he was part of the effort to make the last generation of construct workers used to build the Frostbound Wall.
He gained substantial renown as a mage, developing innovative ways of making smarter, more capable constructs via selective targeting and implanting of various forces as their motive power. He did have a reputation as a bit of a sleazy person, frequenting the more disreputable red light district houses.
Disgrace and Exile
In mid 30s, EsJay had built a small group of apprentices, journeymen, and fellow researchers. Rumors spread of his seeming sadistic pleasure in "disciplining" his apprentices, but since he preferred taking apprentices from the lower classes and had strong connections to nobility, nothing ever came of it. However, when he raped the daughter of the wrong person (an influential merchant), the whole thing tumbled down. This also coincided with a post-Hungering Frost drive to clean up society, but he had a lot of political pull...and so he was exiled instead of executed.
Scaeva Tower
He found and rebuilt (with devil help) the old mage tower at Scaeva, and began farming out his construct creation services. Gaining apprentices from all around (especially Mar'osh, through back channels), he flourished.
Death
In 252 AC, the four members of <campaign 4> arrived at the tower on a scouting mission. He welcomed them in, with the intent to drug and abuse/use-up Tyra Blackstone for her magical abilities. This was discovered, in part due to one of his hired devils welshing on him, and, after an attempted defense (mostly cowardly hiding behind his apprentices), he was pulverized. Literally ground to a paste by Asher Frye.
