Unification Wars

From Dreams of Hope
(Redirected from God Wars)

Very little is known about the period immediately following the War of Blood, other than that, after a short period where all the peoples recovered from that orgy of bloodletting, war resumed. But this time religious war. The victorious humans, backed on both sides by ihmisi, dwarves, gwerin, and jazuu began struggling for dominance. Two sides quickly emerged--the tight pantheon of the Golden Aspects (represented by the God Emperors) and the looser, more fractious pantheons of the west, mostly revolving around the First Heroes, now ascended.

For decades, the two pantheons and their mortal representatives worked to eliminate all opposition in their respective domains. All the other gods and worshipers either bent the knee or were obliterated, with only a few exceptions. No one really cared what the "beasts" (ie orcs, goblins, etc) believed--they were pushed out of society everywhere. A few other small groups retained their gods--the Nocthians and the Fanged Kingdom among them. And, of course, no one was stupid enough to try to force the dragons to convert.

When the two nascent empires finally turned their attention to the others, a few seasons of cataclysmic battles ensued until the two sides decided that further fighting was fruitless and met to negotiate the Unification Treaty, ending the wars.
