Jungle of Fangs
The region south of the Sea of Grass, to the east of the West Moon Sea and to the west of the Blood-thirst Wildlands.
Geographic Regions
The jungle of fangs is contained (west to east) entirely between two mountain ranges--the Inner Border Range and the Outer Border Range, both remnants of Moon's Fall at the end of the 2nd Age. Effectively, it forms a series of connected valleys, narrowing as it moves south toward the Serpent Sea. The northern edge is defined to be the southern slopes of Mount Refuge (in Kaelthia) and the turn to the east of the mountain ranges.
The Jungle is split into three main areas with variation within those regions. From north to south, the main regions are
Prekapsa Valley

These are the forests, swamps, and jungles of the Sha'slar Autonomous Zone, stretching from the north edge of the Tar Vol Uplands in the Taihu Valley all the way to Mount Refuge and the border with the dwarven lands in the north-east. Characterized by heavy tree cover and a multitude of lakes and rivers, all of which are much smaller than the great inland seas that dominate the southern regions. Climate-wise, it's more temperate despite the volcanic aether from Mount Refuge. The soil is not great for farming, leading to much sparser settlement.
Sub Regions
- Refugee Foothills. Occupied by Kaelthia as of 260 AC.
- Knee-biter Marsh. Mainly settled by the remaining halfling tribes.
- Aisha Woods. North-western edge, west of Srassa Saat to the mountains. Extends south to Lao Cai.
- Dor'kana Marsh. South of the road from Srassa Saat through Serkos to Dwarf-fort but north of the Steelflower Woods. Only lightly settled, mainly by those who dislike civilization.
- Steelflower Woods. Main plantation area for Steelsilk fiber. Has much of the population of the region.
- Gold-snake Woods. South of the Hebe-la river but north of the border with Taihu. Also fairly heavily settled.
- Central Valley. The region stretching from Srassa Saat down to Sha'slar, one of the rare not-forested regions. Most densely settled...which isn't saying much.
Major Settlements
Total Population
About 70,000 (known), although there are uncounted tribes of halflings and "primitive" humans living in the northern regions.
Mostly human (fang-kin) and scaled half-elves. Halflings in the jungles. Ophidians here are immigrants.
Taihu Valley
The agricultural heartland of the Jungle is the central valley, streatching from the Khleiton river at the south end of the Dolem Plain (on the east of Lake Thom) up to the start of the great forests of Prekapsa; on the western side of Lake Thom it stretches a bit further south to the Chiveng river. Most of the region (especially on the eastern and northern sides of the lakes) is rolling, fertile plains dotted with trees, heavily settled with grain and animal farmers. Tons of millet, barley, and wheat are grown here. Less rice than in the Thoma Valley. The western side is less heavily settled and more wooded, and contains the only significant gap in the Outer Border Range, stretching for nearly a hundred miles through the hills of Khang Wood.

Sub-Regions
- Tar Vol Uplands: Higher ground north of Taihu Lake, frum the Khar-tai river to the Tara'l River. Less densely settled than the Dolem Plain, but not by much.
- Volan Wood: North-western region from Kahang River to the Khar-tai river. Just south of the Gold-snake Woods. Least densely settled region.
- Dolem Plain: Heartland. Dense with estates, farms, and villages. SE side of Taihu Lake, it covers from the Tara'l to the Khleiton and the Tai-thom. Contains both Asai'ka City as well as the access to Ar Salem Dolem.
- Chiveng: Both a river at the southern edge as well as the name for the plains SSE of Taihu Lake, stretching down to the northern side of Lake Thom. Less settled than the east side, but still fairly well inhabited.
- Khang Wood. Access to the Blood-thirst Wildlands. Not very settled.
Major Settlements
- Asai'ka City
- Ar Salem Dolem
- Nusa
- Lai'ka
- Nakhon
- And many large villages/small towns.
Total Population
500-1000k.
Almost entirely fang-kin and scaled half-elves. Small ophidian settlements, mostly in outlying regions.
Thoma Valley
The southern section, encompassing the southern and eastern sides of Lake Thom all the way down to the coast of the Serpent Sea. Characterized by steeper slopes and deeper valleys, this area is the historic heartland of the peoples of the former Stone Throne (even though Ar Salem Dolem is the religious center). Much warmer and more humid most of the year, it grows lots of rice and spices. Not quite as densely settled as the Taihu Valley due to the rockier conditions, it still boasts an impressive population and sophistication.

Sub-Regions
- Thoma Plain: The main agricultural region and most heavily-settled region. South of the Kheiton and north of the Phoa, the Wildwing Range encroaching more and more as you go further south. Rice, barley, and millet, with wheat in the north.
- Ophix: The area to the south of the mountains, south of the Phoa and east of the Zhazhi. Jungles and hills across the south and west are home to relatively civilized ophidian tribes (those that cooperate with the government at Kel'al'ar). Industry is logging, mining, and other extraction. Spice plantations dot the northern, more civilized region.
- Prei'tal: The area between the W. Serpent Sea and the Zhizhi. North edge is basically the tip of Lake Thom. Like Ophix, heavily forested and hilly. Home to more uncivilized ophidian tribes and those not wanting to be involved in the affairs of the nation.
- Nisha'tal: Between Lake Thom and the Westfall Range, north to the Nisha'l. Forested, but more heavily settled. Major source of mahogany. Many fiend-touched here due to the Devil's Rebellion.
- The Fisher Coast: The plains between the Chiveng and the Nisha'l on the west shore of Lake Thom. Settled by fishermen, but now also a major source of cattle for the region.
- Haru'tal: West of the Fisher Coast, this region is mostly unsettled (at least by civilized folks). No significant settlements here.
Major Settlements
- Kel'al'ar
- Tarad'am
- Pleika
- Krom Hvang
- Phoa Sraat
- Repat
- Mea Sraat
- Kuta
- Nhu Kad
- Po Creek
- And numberless large villages and small towns, some of them mapped.
Total Population
400-800k.
A mix of human, half-elf, and ophidian. Considered to be the "native home" of the ophidian lineage. Tarad'am and Sen'ai have appreciable sena'ka populations.
