The Dark Lady is the false name given to the person who ruled in Kel'al'ar between approximately 200 AC through 206 AC. A former cleric of a dead god of knowledge, she was the chief administrator of the Towers of Sun, Earth, Moon, and Stars at the time of the Cataclysm. She ordered the Towers to phase into a demiplane as part of defensive measures against the onrushing catastrophe. Because of the (unanticipated) disruption of magic, the Towers were unable to return to the Mortal plane. With her god dead, she lost faith and became paranoid. In a desperate effort to survive, she and her direct followers (including her sister Kinlanna) called on the White Skull and sacrificed most of the population of the Tower of the Moon to fuel a portal connection back to Quartus. Due to the temporal distortions, they landed in the Jungle of Fangs in approximately 200 AC.
She immediately moved in on the then-current ruler of the Southern District, Il'ka, overthrowing him with her arcane and demonic might, and took control of that district. She was actively engaged in exacerbating the demon worship then prevalent in the Stone Throne.
Overthrow and destruction
- Tried to strike a deal with the Catalysts (mutual non-interference). That was rejected, but gave away her portal network coordinates.
- She began to build a demon-fueled bomb to strip the souls of the entire population of Kel'al'ar to fuel her ascension to the rank of Demon Prince.
- An alliance of special-forces groups, including the Catalysts, the Scale Balancers, as well as Byssian and Wyrmhold forces rallied to stop her.
- Her sister Kinlanna, as well as the White Skull (because she had reneged on her deal with him and was siphoning off souls to her own power) assisted the alliance in distracting her and opening the way.
- The alliance struck through the portal and bought time for the Catalysts to strike deep into her complex and defuse the bomb.
- There they encountered her and fought.
- With her dying strength, she used a Fang of Resolution to sacrifice herself to tear a hole in the Crystal Sphere, intending to allow the Awakener through (mostly out of spite).
- Kinlanna and the Catalysts entered the portal formed and fought off the encroaching forces at the edge of the Dark Beyond until Kinlanna could use the Fang (and her own soul) to seal the breach.
