Unclan

The Unclan is the self-bestowed name adopted by a group of misfit dwarves who left the various dwarven clans of the Uulan Confederacy for various reasons, most of which boil down to "didn't fit in". They've congregated in a small village located roughly 30 miles NW of the Mountain Road, just south of the hills that run along the southern edge of the North Fork of the Shield River where it meets the South Fork.

The Unclan village was founded officially about 5 years ago, but has swelled in the last 3. Both village and society call themselves Unclan. Officially they're still part of the Uulan Confederacy, but only vaguely, mostly because the more traditional dwarves would prefer to pretend they don't exist.

Their village happens to be right on the alternate trade route along the northern bank of the Shield River and down to Fuar Uulan, portending a substantial rise in exposure.

Population Demographics

About 150 adults, almost entirely (but not exclusively) dwarves.

Compared to traditional clan members, most of them are either unmarried, divorced (and sometimes re-married), or widowed (and potentially re-married). They tend to not keep their clan markings (braids, etc).

Economy

The Unclan has turned wholeheartedly toward agriculture, especially raising pigs and chickens and producing the necessary feed. They have decided to specialize in smoked/cured meats of all types, from sausage to jerky to bacon, etc. As such they import salt and spices and export cured meats. They are at the forefront of experimentation into cooking methods as well as preservation methods.

Like most dwarven settlements, they've also built a local distillery and brewery.

Religion

Unlike most dwarves, they have a strong affinity for Sarapha, the Lady of the Harvest. They do accept all the Congregation, however.
